Mike Jay Media (MJM) is a multimedia company with two main operating subsidiaries: Mike Jay Films and Mike Jay Digital. MJM’s mission is to amplify diverse voices and inspire the next generation of filmmakers.

Mike Jay Films (MJF) houses the scripted and non-scripted film and television units with a focus on films, television series, and documentaries. Our mission is to show humanity as much more than monolithic figures, but as the mosaic that we are. 

Mike Jay Digital (MJD) houses audio experiences (podcasts, music, e-books), animation, and gaming. MJD’s objective is to provide thought-provoking content through ever evolving forms of media.

Mike Jay Films was founded and named in honor of co-founder Tony Chennault's older brother Mike Jay, who was killed as an innocent bystander in a shooting in 2012. Mike dreamed of becoming a film producer. Inspired and determined to preserve his older brother’s vision, Tony pursued film and content creation, and named the company in his Mike Jay’s honor to cement his legacy.

Tony Chennault | founder | Director & Writer

In 2014, Tony won “Best Director” at the Ekiah Film Festival. His Philadelphia roots have allowed him to have a wide range of experiences that help shape his perspective on life. Tony has continued to build his resume as his screenplay Dollar Party won the Act Up! Screenwriters competition at the Hip Hop Film Festival in 2018. His online series Oldhead: The Series has accrued over 3,000,000 views and is still screened in web festivals. In addition, he just made his directorial debut with Oldhead the film, which will be released in June 2023. In the meantime, Tony continues to hone his craft by working on commercial productions for Superprime Films producing commercials for brands such as Nike, Chase Bank, NFL, and Fox Sports.

Joshua O. Meekins | Co-Founder | Writer & Producer

Joshua finds his passion in creating and sharing stories through all formats. He grew up in Trenton, NJ, and graduated from Villanova University in 2014. After graduation, he teamed up with his classmates to produce Oldhead: The Series which was popular on YouTube gaining over 3M views! Using the success of the YouTube series, Joshua co-wrote and produced the independent film Oldhead which premiered on the APEX platform. Joshua made his acting debut in Beyond All which was a Cannes Film Festival Short Film selection. Joshua continues to sharpen his skills as he was the Assistant Director on Love You Right and created a podcast platform for upcoming creators titled Disruptors in the Culture. The podcast was recently featured on the 2022 Roots Picnic Podcast Stage. Joshua plans to keep producing original content that not only engages viewers but challenges their opinions, beliefs, and points of view.

Sam Griffen | Head of Development

Sam Griffen is a screenwriter and producer living in Los Angeles. He served as Creative Executive for Grand and State Studios (formerly CorradoMooncoin) from 2016 to 2022, helping develop and produce the 2019 political thriller AN ACCEPTABLE LOSS starring Tika Sumpter and Jamie Lee Curtis. Additionally, Sam was the head writer of the WebFest LA-nominated web series Boyband, and worked as a personal on-set assistant for star and creator Marc Maron on the IFC series Maron. Sam has several feature film and television scripts currently in the early stages of development.

Osagie Johnson | Head of Business Strategy

Osagie supports the creative and leadership team in defining corporate strategy and identifying new business opportunities and partnerships that support the long-term growth of MJF. As Head of Business Strategy, Osagie oversees all corporate operations, business strategy, and production finance. 

In previous roles, Osagie spent a decade leading strategic initiatives and corporate transactions and investments for leading consumer companies and private equity firms such as TPG, New Mountain Capital, Verizon, Terminix and others. Osagie grew up in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Villanova University in 2014.

Amira Smith| Producer | Head of brand identity

Amira Smith is a producer and the Head of Brand Identity overseeing company and content marketing strategy for Mike Jay Media. Amira is also a producer and co-host of the Disruptors in the Culture podcast.

Amira previously served as the Director of Marketing and Inclusion for the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, marketing the Philly region as a filmmaking destination to the film & TV industry, from 2015 to 2019 . Her inclusion efforts at GPFO were to increase diversity in media by identifying the unique barriers of entry for filmmakers and crew who are BIPOC, women, LGBTQ, and/or disabled and provide resources to help people access tangible career paths in film and TV. Following, Amira was the Head of Development for film finance company Southbox Entertainment. Amira recently served as Impact Producer for documentary film A Woman On The Outside, is the Creative & Media Consultant for nonprofit The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia, and is an Executive Producer of the APEX (Artist Presented Experiences) platform's short film These Are My Brothers, starring Niatia “Lil Mama” Kirkland and Keraun Harris.
